Renovating Daybeds
I bought this lovely second-hand cane daybed recently, as I needed a daybed to show off MotzDesigns’ cushions. It was originally natural in colour. You can see the before and after photos above. I spray painted the natural cane lounge to white, as I wanted it to look Chic. The mattress really needed replacing. I replaced the mattress with high density outdoor foam, and covered it in a good quality outdoor UV Pro Fabric together with the cushions. If you are going to put a daybed outside on a patio, it is important to use outdoor foam, as well as outdoor fabric on your mattress and cushions as this will give it longevity. For the mattress base, you should always use an upholstery grade fabric. I used UV Pro Fabric, which is inherently fade resistant and mildew resistant. Once the fabric was chosen, I made up the daybed myself in no time, as you do, and displayed some of our stunning outdoor cushions on it from the “Coastal Collection” and Voila!
